Who am I? It’s always an really hard question, writing introductions or talk about yourself is never easy. But here goes, an attempt at it if you will.
Let’s start simple, my name is Martin Carlsson and I was born in 1986 and raised in a little town called Tormestorp just outside of Hässleholm in the region of Skåne in Sweden.
That was easy, lets continue with something harder like my interests and how they come to be. I quickly found out was my love for design and get an outlet for my creativity. This drive to create, draw me to webdesign in my teens where I discovered the wonderful world of HTML, CSS and writing beautiful standardized code. My application of choice during that time was Dreamweaver, it’s auto-complete, snippets and descriptions of HTML and CSS lured me in to a new world.
But this was not an big enough creative outlet for me, which eventually led me to an little application called Adobe Photoshop. I fast learned how to overuse all the filters, play around with layers and blending modes an yet again a new world opened up to me. It was also during this time that I was introduced to the world that is known to have taken the world by storm; The Halo franchise. I still remember the first trailer showed by Steve Jobs in 1999 which started my to this date strong love and intrest for the Halo universe and the franchise. It was something with the design of the world, the concepts and the style of the game that just spoke to me.
Looking up to the great artist at Bungie, ILM and Weta Digital for a source of insperation and goal of quality. So here I am, doing what I can. Learning and relearning the basics and fundamentals of modeling to reach my goal of perfection with the hopes to reach a level of quality that I so admire.
I will let you know how it all goes, for now I’m off to delve in to more of the world of CG and everything that it entails.
Perfection is a strong goal to set and strive for, but it’s also a beauty that forces you to learn.
